Mr. Shelman Burton

Biography

Mr. Burton joined DoDEA in 2011 as a Math/Science Instructional Systems Specialist for the Fort Stewart, South Carolina and Department of Defense Dependent school in Cuba. Following this, he served as a K-12 Assistant Principal at schools in Cuba, Bahrain, and Italy.

During the pandemic, Mr. Burton was assigned to the DoDEA Virtual School as the Student Services Administrator for the Americas and Europe Regions.  Mr. Burton most recently served as the Professional Practice and Improvement Specialist for the Americas CIL Team in Puerto Rico.

He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematical Sciences from Georgia Southern University, an Executive Masters of Business Degree from Georgia State University, and an Educational Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership from Georgia State University.

Throughout his career, Mr. Burton has demonstrated a strong commitment to education focusing on leading, coaching, serving, and empowering instructional leaders to make a positive impact on military-connected students across DoDEA.
